A serious incident occurred on Thursday evening when an under-construction 20-story hotel building collapsed in Asaba, Delta State. Sadly, eight people are now fighting for their lives due to this tragedy.

This towering hotel, worth billions of naira, stands right across from Delta Mall in Asaba, near Shoprite.

The owner of the building is Chief Gabriel Ogbechie, a billionaire businessman known for founding Rain Oil Group.

An eyewitness named Onyinye Okei described the horrifying moment when a loud noise rang out while construction workers were busy on the site. As a result, eight individuals were injured and had to be rushed to the hospital by their coworkers.

State Commissioner for Urban Renewal, Mr. Michael Anoka, inspected the building and determined that a structural flaw was the cause of the collapse.

Fortunately, no lives were lost. Anoka assured the public that a government investigation is ongoing, and measures are being taken to prevent such incidents in the future.

For safety reasons, the area where the incident occurred has been sealed off by officials from the State Emergency Management Agency and security personnel.
