TellVibes recalls that Glory had traveled to Italy back in 2005 and returned in 2013 to visit her family in Nigeria.

During her visit, she opened a savings account with First Bank at the Ring Road Branch in Benin City, Edo State. While in Italy, she continued to deposit money into this account and had regular contact with the branch manager, Mr. Gabriel.

In 2018, during another visit to Nigeria, Glory decided to stay connected to her account by subscribing to the bank’s application, which allowed her to monitor her transactions from Italy. She also applied for a debit card to make transactions during her visit. Everything seemed fine until 2021 when her ATM card allegedly expired.

Glory reached out to the branch manager, Gabriel, for help in renewing her debit card. However, due to Covid-19 restrictions, she couldn’t return to Nigeria at that time. It wasn’t until May 2023 when she came back and visited the bank branch to withdraw and renew her card that the shocking revelation occurred.

The bank informed Glory that her account had only 3,000 Naira, not the 68 million Naira she expected. This understandably left her in disbelief and distress. She requested her bank statement, but the bank initially declined to provide it. She eventually obtained the statement through a lawyer who wrote to the bank.

What’s truly concerning is that they discovered that on October 13, 2022, a massive 51.7 million Naira was moved out of her account. Fortunately, the bank returned this sum.

However, it seems they were testing the waters, as they continued to withdraw funds from her account, taking 9 million Naira, 5 million Naira, 2 million Naira, and another 2 million Naira, until only 3,000 Naira remained.

Glory went back to the branch afand the manager told her that to access the 51 million Naira, she needed to update her account with the necessary documents. She also claims that her remaining balance, which should be around 17 million Naira, needs to be returned by First Bank.

This situation raises significant concerns about the security of bank accounts and the need for transparent and accountable banking practices. It’s a story that has left Glory Omokaro, her family, and many others deeply disturbed.
