Instead, the responsibility of covering Philip Shaibu’s activities will be managed by the Ministry of Communication and Orientation.

This development comes after a recent incident at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub in Benin City, the capital of Edo State. During an event to mark the 60th anniversary of the Midwest Referendum, some of the deputy governor’s aides were denied entry, leading to Deputy Governor Shaibu leaving the venue in protest.

Chris Nehikhare, the State’s Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, conveyed that the media crew of the deputy governor attempted to enter the hall where Governor Godwin Obaseki and other honored guests were seated. This action disregarded the established accreditation protocol for media coverage of the event.

The statement from Commissioner Nehikhare expressed disappointment in the orchestrated walkout and disruption that occurred, labeling it as regrettable.
