Edo 2024 APC Ticket: who wins Edo states APC’s primary Governorship Candidacy

Political parties in Edo State are getting ready to select a candidate for the governorship race since Governor Obaseki’s mandate is about to expire.

Even though it is the state’s opposition party, the APC seems to have more candidates seeking for its governorship ticket.

In advance of the party’s primary election, the following candidates are said to be meeting with party leaders for consultation.

1. Victor Eboigbe: Born on May 10, 1964, in Ewohimi, the then Agbzilo (now Esan South East) local government area, Edo State, Victor Eboigbe is one of the aspirants. In 2019, he served as the Deputy Director South, Contact, and Mobilization committee in President Buhari’s re-election campaign.

He chaired the Publicity Sub-committee during Oshiomhole’s 2nd Term and co-chaired the State Committee for Reconciliation for Esan West Local Government Area and Esan North East Local Government Area (2011).

He was also the Coordinator of Edo Central, Adams Oshiomhole Campaign Organization in 2012.

2. Dennis Idahosa: Dennis Idahosa, popularly known as DENCO, born on August 11, 1980, hails from Iguobazuwa in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State.

He is unarguably the youngest aspirant vying for the APC governorship ticket. He is known for his developmental strides in Ovia, and now serving his second term in the House of Representatives after defeating his PDP opponent in a tough contest.

Idahosa was also a member of the cabinet of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole while he occupied Osadebe avenue as Governor of the State.

3. Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma: Born on October 21, 1960, in Edo State, Nigeria. Hon. Agbonayinma who hails from Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo state, served as a representative for the Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Constituency in the esteemed Federal House of Representatives.

He also held significant roles as a senior Aide to Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole during his tenure as the executive Governor of the State and also as an Aide to Former House of Representatives Speaker, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, during his speakership.EJ as he is popularly called, is in the race to fly the ticket of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election in Edo State.

4. Prince Clem Agba : Prince Clem Agba was born to the family of His Royal Highness, Pius Kadiri Ikanade Agba; the Oliola of Uzanu, in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. Agba, the immediate past Minister for State, Budget and National Planning, was also a Commissioner in the administration of Senator Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State.

5. Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu: Rumors have it that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu is consulting and interested in the race to fly the APC ticket, although we are yet to get a direct confirmation from him , but some of his political allies have been seen pushing campaign contents of him with the inscription “Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu for governor”

On various platforms in the internet Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu was appointed as the Chief of Staff, under the administration of Dr. Lucky Nosakhare Igbinedion, Executive Governor of Edo State.

After that, he also was appointed Secretary to the State Government (SSG) during Igbinedion’s second term in office He is a top and very influential leader of the APC from Orhionmwon local government who, and he’s believed to be a grass-root politician who with his influence secured the Edo state APC gubernatorial ticket in last election where he contested against the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki

6. Prof. Oserheimen Osunbor: He was born in Iruekpen, Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State, Nigeria on October 5th, 1951. He is 100% confirmed to be in the race to fly the APC ticket for the Edo 2024 gubernatorial election, he has a number of times been pictured going round consulting APC leaders.

Osunbor was elected Senator for the Edo Central senatorial district of Edo State, Nigeria at the start of the Nigerian Fourth Republic, running on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform. He took office on May 29th, 1999.

On May 29th, 2007, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) produced Prof. Osunbor as the governor of Edo state. He served as the Governor of the state from May 29, 2007 to November 11, 2008 after the court nullified his election. He was elected as governor on April on the PDP platform. On March 2008, the Edo State Governorship Election Tribunal declared that Osubor’s election was invalid, and asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw his certificate and decleared Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole of the Action Congress (AC) Party the winner.

On November 11th, 2008, a Federal Appeal Court sitting in Benin City upheld the ruling of the state’s election petitions tribunal, declaring Oshiomhole to be the governor of Edo state.

The decision was based on several voting irregularities.

7. Sunday Anamero Dekeri: Popularly known as DANCO, is from Okpella in Etsako East Constituency. During the just concluded general election, he won landslide victory against his PDP and LP opponents to represent Etsako Federal Constituency in the green chambers of the House of Representatives.

He serving his first term. Anamero is also on the list of those who are presently going around consulting leaders of the APC in the state.

8. Saturday Uwuilekhue: Saturday Uwuilekhue is from Iyoba ward in Orhionmwon local government of Edo State, he is a former local government chairman, former SSA, former Commissioner under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, he also served as representative of Edo state in the NDDC board. Uwuilekhue is also rumored to be among those jostling for the ticket of the APC.

9. Gideon Obhakhan: He was born on the 21st day of January 1972, he hails from Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State. Apart from his personal accomplishments, he has served as Commissioner for Education during Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s administration as Governor of Edo State.

Obhakhan was also the Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal Constituency House of Representatives Candidate on the platform of All Progressives Congress, APC in 2015 Nigerian General Elections.He is among those aspiring to be governor of Edo state under the platform of the APC .

10. David Imuse: Col. (Dr.) David Imuse, born 08 May 1958.He was twice an Aspirant for the House of Representatives for Esan West/Esan Central/Igueben Federal Constituency, Imuse, a former Chairman Board of Management Aminu Kano University Teaching Hospital, served as State Chairman, Caretaker Committee of the party.

He was returned elected as Edo State Chairman of the party at the State Congress in 2021, an office which he presently still occupies. Interestingly, APC, so far, parades the best of aspirants, with more party members showing interest day after day.
