After a span of two weeks marked by speculation, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has officially slated Wednesday, September 6, as the definitive date for delivering judgment on the three petitions challenging the victory declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
Umar Mohammed Bangari, the Chief Registrar of the Court of Appeal, confirmed this date during a conversation with DAILY POST on Monday.
The Court of Appeal is the venue for the Tribunal’s proceedings, and Bangari affirmed that comprehensive preparations have been made to ensure a smooth and trouble-free rendering of the verdict in these three petitions.
These petitions have been filed by Abubakar Atiku, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peter Obi from the Labour Party (LP), and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM). Bangari also emphasized the implementation of robust security measures and disclosed that only invited members of political parties and the general public with invitations will be granted access to the courtroom.
This approach aims to prevent overcrowding and maintain security integrity.”
