Bet9ja/Edo FA cup hit Second round Stage.

The Preliminary round of matches of the ongoing Bet9ja Edo FA cup has been concluded.

The two day event decided at two designated centres of Western Boys high school mini sports complex and S&T Army Barracks Ugbowo in Benin City, saw eleven teams qualify for the second round of the competition.

On Sunday March 10th 2024, Nwanegbo Philip Football Academy progressed to the round of 16, after a 5-1 win over Megapp FC, just as Detral FC also qualify for the second round with a 5-3 win against Elite FC on Penalties after Full time score stood Goaless.

Also through to the second round of the Bet9ja Edo FA cup is Konstanz Dike FC who edged Living voice Football Academy 1-0, while Benin warriors FC took out Future Stars FC 3-2, and Royal force FC qualify ahead of sporty24 6-5 on Penalties after 1-1 at regulation time.

On Monday March 11th 2024, Matrice FC thrashed union sportive 3-0 to reach the second round, same with St Andrew FC who gain a 2-1 win against Morsko international fc.

Trade fair FC defeated hard fighting unique FC 3-2 to reach the knockout phase of the competition.

Other results saw Delight FC beat Dynamo sports Foundation 2-1,Alhaji FC also go through with a 3-1 win on Penalties against worshippers after Goaless at regulation time, while Efe urhocity FC got a 1-0 win against Etete FC, to reach the knockout phase of the Bet9ja Edo FA cup competition.

The eleven teams that are through to the second round will be joined by the five seeded teams during the draws, they include state and national cup holders Bendel insurance FC, Bendel insurance Feeders FC, Ine stars, Bj FC and Rolly FC.

According to the chairman of the Bet9ja Edo FA cup 2024, Paul Ojesekhoba the second round of matches will be decided on March 17th and 18th 2024 at western boys high school mini sports complex, ikpoba Hill and S&T Army Barracks Ugbowo, to pave way for this weekend burial ceremony of the late former Edo FA vice chairman, kindness Ohiowele who died February 11th 2024 at Yenegoa while on duty.
