MTN Foundation Invests N28.8 Billion in Grassroots Healthcare

Odunayo Sanya, the Managing Director of MTN Foundation, revealed that the foundation has dedicated a whopping N28.8 billion to enhance primary healthcare services at the grassroots level nationwide.

This announcement came during the signing of a partnership agreement with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) to establish 52 primary healthcare centers (PHCs) across the country.

The signing ceremony took place at the MTN Atlantis office in Lagos, where Sanya emphasized that the collaboration aims to establish an additional 40 high-quality and affordable PHCs in 200 communities by June 2024.

She highlighted the foundation’s commitment to remodeling 180 PHCs alongside the ongoing 52, ensuring sustainable healthcare delivery.

Sanya further explained that the partnership with PSHAN focuses on critical aspects such as training healthcare workers, particularly through the PSHAN Adopt-a-Healthcare-Facility-Programme.

Additionally, initiatives like the MTN What-Can-We Do-Together program, have facilitated the remodeling and equipping of 40 PHCs across various states, including Anambra, Bayelsa, Kogi, Rivers, and Jigawa.

Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, the Chairman of MTN Foundation, underscored the foundation’s commitment to ensuring the longevity and impact of its projects, especially as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. He emphasized the importance of collaboration for achieving significant milestones.

Aigboje Aig-Imoukhued, the Director of PSHAN, praised the partnership, noting its alignment with Bill Gates’ vision of harnessing the private sector’s potential through strategic collaborations.
