Tonto Dikeh, has raised eyebrows by suggesting that Naira Marley, the head of Marlian Records, enjoys powerful political support.
Dikeh made this assertion while responding to a tweet by Naira Marley following his recent arrest by the police. The arrest came as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic demise of his former signee, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, widely known as Mohbad.
In a tweet, Naira Marley conveyed his return to Lagos, Nigeria, with the intention of cooperating with the authorities in the ongoing investigation. He expressed his commitment to ensuring that the truth emerges and justice prevails.
However, a widely circulated video on social media depicted the singer being guarded at the airport before being taken into police custody.
Tonto Dikeh took to her Instagram page to share her thoughts on the situation. She opined that, in a just society, Naira Marley would not be tweeting about his return but would instead be in handcuffs.
She commented, “Look who has come back to NIGERIA to assist the police investigate why he and Sam Larry tortured Mohbad. I ask again who are those protecting Naira Marley? In the right country, he should be in handcuffs and chains, rather than having a phone to tweet. Naira Marley’s confidence looks to me like he has some top political underdogs by his side.”
The controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death began when documents and videos emerged on social media, showing Naira Marley and his associate, Sam Larry, allegedly subjecting Mohbad to relentless bullying after he left the record label.
It is worth noting that the Lagos Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed Naira Marley’s arrest shortly after his return to Nigeria, adding another layer of intrigue to the unfolding story.
